INTERREG III/A
The goal of the project is to create the institutionalized cooperation between the region of Békéscsaba, Gyula and Békés towns – known in the regional development as Mid-Békés Centrum (KBC) – and Arad Town. The municipalties of the three towns concerned founded the applying Mid-Békés Territory Development Municipal Association in 1997 in order to provide a legal entity for their common development policy and to be able to act commonly in the cross-border partnerships. Our project intends to play a pioneering role through the following activities:
- Establishing the KBC-Arad Development Agency operated by the Mid-Békés Territorial Development Municipal Association
- Elaborating a common development strategy, laying the corner-stone of the euroregional cooperation in the future
- Sharing the experiences of the utilization of the European Structural and Cohesion Funds in Hungary and the incentives for the enterprises in Rumania
- Continuous communication about the KBC-Arad cross-border cooperation
- Generating new programs, organizing partnerships, mediation, expanding the KBC projects with cross-border effect to the Rumanian side of the border (finding possible partners, preparation, elaborating the necessary studies etc), with emphasis on: a) developing institutes financed by municipalties to create a system of eco-economy and bio-food production
b) elaborating KBC-Arad common program packages about health and eco-tourism (wellness programs, cycling and water tourism)
Our partner beyond the border is CNIPMMR (Consiliul National Intreprinderilor Private Mici si Miilocii din Romania- Filiala Arad / National Council of Small and Medium Enterprises in Romania, Arad Office) which has extended connections and cross-border experiences in the Arad region, and its management is very dynamic. This partner of us leads us to the enterprises, municipalties, organizations in Arad and its region. In completing our tasks we found ourselves on the chambers, the non-professional associations, the local and the regional municipalties and the Tourinform office network both on the Rumanian and the Hungarian sides of the border.

- Application of EGT and the Norwegian Financing Mechanisms: „Your food is your life” project. In the project to be carried our goal is to establish an Eco-economy and Food Production Center which will provide help not only in creating and organizing a bio-product selling network but revives the business sphere in the region by creating new jobs.
- Accentuated special project: KBC Bio-Refinery and Innovation Cluster Center
The Bio-Refinery and Innovation Cluster Center is based on the bio-mass available on the area of the KBC and the research institutes in Szeged, and its achievements will be used all over in the region. The general objective of the project is to introduce the up to date and economical technologies of the non-food-producing agriculture based on bio-refinery, using the new achievements of the agriculture and the scientific researches, with the final goal of creating a long-term sustainable production structure in the agriculture.
- Accentuated special project: Environment-friendly waste recycling and salvage system – „Energy from communal waste”
The Mid-Békés Centrum plans to elaborate and start a joint program for waste recycling and salvage which contributes to the absolute and relative decrease of the quantity of waste produced in the region and which considers the recycling of the waste to be a central task and which uses technologies which are not hazardous to humans and the environment even in high-level recycling. The detailed concept about waste managing to be elaborated will define the waste management strategy and the measures to be taken for a long term, offering resolutions that can be adopted in the whole region.
- Accentuated special project: development program of industrial areas in the KBC
In accordance with its development strategy, the Mid-Békés Centrum (Békéscsaba, Gyula, Békés towns) intends to carry out an integrated business development program, with the fundamental principles of founding on the local conditions and demands, the re-arrangement of the economic structure, the use and development of the achievements of K+F programs of the EU, innovation, to create more and better jobs, equal chances, sustainability, cooperation and sharing tasks. Building the effectively working business and economic infrastructure up – which is a basic precondition to the attractive economic environment – on the existing brown-field and industrial areas is essential to the planned projects, producing activities and settling the economic sectors which we intend to develop.

The project "Organising Thematic Tourism Programmes in the Körös Valley" was implemented under the Hungary-Romania Cross-Border Co-operation Programme 2007-2013 (www.huro-cbc.eu), and is part-financed by the European Union through the European Regional Development Fund, Hungary and Romania. The programme aims to bring the
different actors – people, economic actors and communities – closer to each other, in order to better
exploit opportunities offered by the joint development of the border area. |
